Jahangir Tareen – a disgruntled leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former confidant of party chairman Imran Khan on Monday called on senior politician Abdul Aleem Khan at his residence in Lahore, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Both disgruntled leaders of PTI had a detailed discussion on their roles in the current political situation in the meeting.
Sources said Jahangir Tareen consulted Aleem Khan about launching a new political party.
Senior politician Ishaq Khakwani, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Aoun Chaudhry, Shoaib Siddiqui, and Saeed Akbar Nawani were also present in the meeting.
According to the sources, the participants of the meeting evolved a consensus that instead of forming a pressure group, a new political party should be formed.
The participants were of the view that by creating a new party, they will be able to better safeguard the rights of the masses.
The participants were told that a large number of leaders who have left PTI or are in the process of leaving PTI need a new steadfast and strong political platform.
“A new political party backed by the influential leaders of the province will be ideal for all PTI dissidents and electable candidates from Punjab province,” they hinted.
