Army postpones Defence Day ceremony at GHQ due to floods: ISPR DG

Pak Army Wednesday postponed the central ceremony to be held at GHQ to commemorate Defence and Martyrs Day on September 6 to show solidarity with the flood-hit people in Pakistan.
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Babar Iftikhar announced this in a twitter post.
He wrote: “In solidarity with the flood affected people of Pakistan, central ceremony at GHQ to commemorate Defence & Martyrs Day on 6 September has been postponed.”
He said Pakistan Armed Forces shall continue serving our brothers and sisters struck by unprecedented floods.

Pakistan celebrates its Defence Day on September 6 each year with official grand ceremonies. However, at the moment, Pakistan is facing a major flood situation in decades with one-third of the country became submerged. Pak Army is at the forefront of the rescue and relief operations in the country.
