Youth in Rawalpindi shot at for ‘ignoring’ police signal to stop

A youth was injured critically when the police opened fire at the car he was driving after he did not stop it at a checkpost in Gulshan Dadan Khan area of Rawalpindi for routine checking, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Police said the youth appeared to be drunk while two other men travelling with him, and who were now in their custody, were also intoxicated.
Sources said 20-year-old Haider Iftikhar who received bullets in his leg and abdomen was shifted to Holy Family Hospital where a bullet was removed from his leg after an operation.
Later, police arrested the cops deputed at the checkpost set up in the limits of New Town police station after registering a case against them on the complaint of the youth’s brother who said that he learnt about the incident from Haider’s friends.
“Actually my brother did not flee but was about to park the car on a roadside when the police opened fire at him,” reads the FIR.
