In a reference to the protection given in the Constitution and the controversy generated by a recent speech of Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah on Saturday said any statement given in the Parliament could not be challenged in court.

He also revealed that Prime Minister Imran Khan had summoned and threatened the Punjab Prisons IG, ordering him not to give any facilities to the two jailed party leaders – Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz.

The senior PML-N leader said the prime minister was used to state that he won’t spare anyone when actually the agenda would be something else.

Rana Sana was talking to media persons in Lahore after appearing before a court in the infamous drugs case in which the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had claimed to recover 15 kilogrammes of heroin from him.

Earlier, the court adjourned further hearing of the case till November 21 when both the defence and the prosecution will present their arguments on indictment.

He said the government was doing nothing except linking the statements of opposition with the Indian narrative and resorting to political victimisation.

“Were the speaker and the treasury members sleeping when Ayaz Sadiq was giving the statement? Why didn’t the speaker expunge Ayaz Sadiq’s words [from the record]?” Rana Sana questioned.

Talking about the wheat and sugar crisis as well as the resultant price hike, the PML-N leader said the masses had been further burdened as the government did take timely decisions, adding that inflation was on the rise in the country.
