ECP halts National Assembly from recruitment activities

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stopped the National Assembly Secretariat from all recruitment activities, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to sources, the ECP's letter to the Secretary of the National Assembly contained explicit instructions not to proceed with any recruitment processes in the secretariat.

The comission has already instructed the interim governments at federal and provincial levels to guarantee a fair and balanced playing field for all candidates and political parties in the upcoming general elections.

In a notification, the Election Commission banned transfers and postings of public officers without obtaining its prior written approval as per the Election Act of 2017, to ensure transparent elections.

Ban has also been imposed on all forms of recruitment in federal, provincial, and local government ministries, divisions, departments, or institutions, with the only exception in cases with prior approval from the Commission.
