Pakistan, Russian to strengthen maritime security, naval tech cooperation

Colonel General Alexander V Fomin), Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, ISPR said.

The visiting dignitary met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Professional issues of mutual interest, regional maritime security situation and bilateral maritime cooperation were discussed in the meeting.

Pakistan attaches great importance to relations with Russian and seeks a long-term multilateral partnership, the Naval Chief said.

Various aspects of cooperation including bilateral training, naval warship visits and joint exercises were also discussed in the meeting.

The two leaders agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the areas of maritime security and naval technology.

The Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation acknowledged the Pakistan Navy's continuous efforts and high commitment in maritime security in the region.
