The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will resume proceedings in PM’s son Suleman Shehbaz's accounts case on Jan 7.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the PM’s son submitted a reply in the Benami accounts case of sugar mills.
The next hearing of the case is adjourned till January 7, he added. The FIA registered a case against him in 2020 and started a probe.
Suleman Shehbaz returned from the UK last month. He moved the Islamabad High Court that barred National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from taking Suleman into custody from the airport as he was wanted in the assets beyond means case.
He contended before the IHC through his lawyer Amjad Parvez that he wanted to return home to face the cases against him, praying the court to grant him protective bail for two weeks.
The two-judge IHC bench, headed by Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, ordered Suleman Shehbaz to surrender to the court by December 13.
After this, the court granted protective bail to the son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The court forbade Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from taking Suleman into custody from the airport. The court also barred National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting Suleman Shehbaz till December 13.
