Govt to introduce substitutes for life-saving drugs in market

The government has taken an important decision to ensure the supply of life-saving drugs in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday. 

Sources in the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) told 24News that substitute brands for these drugs would soon be introduced in the market.

The DRAP, they added, had also decided to immediately start registration of these medicines.

Sources elaborated that soon after their registration, their manufacturing licenses would be issued since the companies, which registered brands, had assured the government to immediately start production of these medicines.    

Giving further details, they said that the Authority was presently considering accepting applications for the registration of drugs used for the treatment of patients of cancer, sugar, hypertension and heart ailment.

Similarly, they explained, that applications for the registration of injections meant for thinning blood were also being considered.
