As per the latest ICC rankings, Indian cricketer Shubman Gill has dethroned Pakistan’s Babar Azam to claim the top spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Batting Rankings. This achievement marks the end of Babar Azam’s reign of over two years as the No.1 ranked ODI batter.

Gill’s rise to the top has been attributed to his strong performance in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. With this accomplishment, he joins the elite club of Indian cricketers - Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli - who have previously held the No.1 ODI batter position.

Gill currently leads with 830 points, while Babar trails behind at the second position with 824 points. The rankings, which are updated every Wednesday, have witnessed some significant changes this week.

In addition to Gill’s achievement, India’s Virat Kohli has also made a major leap by securing the fourth spot in the rankings. Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman, following his impressive performance against New Zealand, has jumped to the 11th position.

The bowling rankings have also seen a major shake-up. Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi, who held the top spot last week, has been dethroned by India’s Mohammed Siraj. Afridi now shares the fifth position with Australia’s Josh Hazlewood.

In the all-rounder rankings, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan continues to hold the No.1 spot despite an injury that forced him out of the World Cup. Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, following his match-winning performance against Afghanistan, has climbed two spots to sit at the sixth position.
