Failure to enforce Section 144: Youth drowns in Khanpur Canal

The police and district administration failed to enforce Section 144, which prohibits bathing in Haripur Khanpur Dam and adjacent canals, leading to another tragic drowning incident, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Sunday.

A 31-year-old man, Tariq Mehmood, son of Badri Zaman from Khulabat, Haripur, drowned in the canal near Khanpur Police Station.

Upon receiving information, Rescue 1122 divers and a medical team promptly arrived at the scene. The diving team successfully recovered Tariq Mehmood's body from the water during their search operation.

The body was immediately transported to Khanpur Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. According to reports, Tariq had come to the canal with friends and tragically drowned while bathing.
