PIA’s direct flight operation to the UK will resume in February, 2025, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Quoting its sources, 24News TV channel reported that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had swung into action for the purpose and that a team of the UK’s Department for Transport (DFT) would visit Pakistan from January 15 to January 17.
Sources also disclosed that the CAA had requested the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority for an exemption from the security audit, which had been accepted.
Besides that, they informed, the UK’s DFT team had also shown their confidence in the CAA’s manual report, and that the safety audit of the PIA as well as of the CAA would now only be a formality.
The team had already conducted the audit of the PIA and the CAA, which remained successful, sources informed.
CAA Director General Nadir Shafi Dar is taking a deep interest in the resumption of the national flag carrier’s flight operation to the UK.
The DG has said that direct flights to Europe and the UK will be the CAA’s New Year gift to the nation.
Sources told 24News TV channel that in the beginning, the PIA would start the flight operation to Manchester, while in the next two phases, flight operation to London and other UK cities would resume.
