The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued summons to PTI leader and former National Assembly (NA) deputy speaker Qasim Suri for the second time after he failed to appear in the court in connection with his appeal against the Election Tribunal’s verdict, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A three-member bench of the SC, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa, heard the case.

While issuing the notice, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that as per the appellant’s brother, Suri was hiding in order to prevent himself from getting arrested by the police.

Quoting the court staff, the CJP said that the first notice, which was sent to the former deputy speaker at his home’s address, was received by his brother.

Then addressing Suri’s lawyer Naeem Bukhari, the judge asked him whether he had any objections if the court issued him the notice for the second time.

The lawyer replied that he had no objections.

Following which the court adjourned the case’s hearing for an indefinite time period.
