A bomb exploded on the car of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) candidate Qari Khairullah in Barkmar area of Tehsil Mamond in Bajaur district Wednesday, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.
The candidate and his companions were safe in the blast, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Kashif Zulfiqar.
He said there was no casualty in the incident and the police have launched a search operation to arrest the culprits.
Meanwhile, the JUI condemned the attack and blamed the Ministry of Interior and the Election Commission of Pakistan for failing to provide security to its candidates.
The party's spokesman Aslam Ghauri said the bomb attack was an attempt to rig the elections by disturbing the law and order situation.
He said some forces were afraid of JUI's popularity and were trying to intimidate its supporters.
He warned that JUI's peaceful nature should not be considered as weakness and demanded that the authorities take action against the perpetrators.
