The Lahore High Court Multan Bench on Monday summoned Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) officials for a reply in contempt of court case on October 6, (Wednesday), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Noman, a student, had filed a petition, through Advocate Rafiq Dogar, seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against the university management for not granting concessions to students in medical, transport, library, sports fees, and hostel charges amongst others.

The petitioner stated that the court had ordered the BZU administration in October 2020 to give a discount to its students in fees. “However, a year later, the order was not implemented by the authorities,” Noman added.

The petitioner further stated that the teaching process had been badly affected during the lockdown as students were confined to their homes and did not use the facilities offered by the university. “Still the university management continued to collect fees from students,” he stated.
