Sindh minister warns against politicising the canal issue

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Saturday lauded Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for adopting a clear stance on canal issue on River Indus, reported 24HD News Channel.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Memon said that Bilawal conveyed very strong and clear message from the people of Sindh.

Memon further said that the PPP chairman would not allow the construction of new canals on River Indus at any cost.

Sindh senior minister said that there is water shortage in the country. “We still don’t know from where Punjab government will generate water reservoirs,” he wondered.

Memon said that no person or group will be allowed to create anarchy and law and order situation in this regard.

He said that prior to this, Raja Pervez Ashraf from Punjab also buried the idea of the construction of Kalabagh Dam.

Memon said that President Asif Ali Zardari also distributed the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was the only party in the country, which had highlighted the canal issue.

Sharjeel Memon said that people of Sindh will prefer to die but will not allow to built new canals at River Indus.

He condemned the statement issued by Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari.

He said that no one will be allowed to politicize this issue and no person will be allowed to issue such kind of statements which harm public feelings.
