Former U.S. President Donald Trump triggered a fresh wave of criticism on Friday after sharing a video allegedly showing the moment dozens of Houthi fighters were killed in a U.S. airstrike in Yemen.

Posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, the black-and-white footage—similar to drone or surveillance feed—shows a group of human figures gathered along a road, moments before a powerful explosion strikes the center of their formation. The video was accompanied by Trump’s flippant caption: “Oops.”

“These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack,” Trump wrote, claiming the group was planning operations before being targeted by American forces. After the blast, a wide shot reveals thick smoke and nearby parked vehicles. Later frames show a crater at the presumed impact site, though no casualties are visibly identifiable.

The video appears to be authentic military-style footage, though its origin has not been officially confirmed by the Pentagon.

Trump’s accompanying remarks—“Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis. They will never sink our ships again!”—fueled outrage online, with critics slamming the tone as insensitive amid a deadly conflict.

The post comes amid ongoing U.S. military operations in Yemen, which have intensified in response to Houthi attacks on Red Sea commercial vessels. The Iran-aligned rebel group has launched numerous drone and missile assaults, prompting retaliatory strikes by American and allied forces.

While Trump’s post seems intended to project strength, it has drawn scrutiny for its cavalier approach to warfare and civilian sensitivity. Human rights observers and policy analysts have raised questions about the ethical and geopolitical implications of broadcasting such footage for political messaging.

As tensions in the Red Sea escalate, Trump's video adds yet another layer of controversy to an already volatile theater of conflict.
