The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has reopened an investigation into a case of maligning propaganda on social media against state institutions, targeting key leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

The FIA has summoned several PTI leaders, including Ali Zaidi, Fawad Chaudhary, Azam Khan Swati, Hammad Azhar, and Qasim Khan Suri, for questioning.

The case, registered by the FIA Cybercrime unit on August 17, 2023, involves allegations of spreading false propaganda against state institutions.

Ali Zaidi, one of the accused PTI leaders, appeared before the FIA after obtaining bail.

During the investigation, he was found involved in the case registered on the complaint of an inspector of Lahore Police. Zaidi has apologized to the FIA for his role in spreading propaganda on social media.
