People escorting Maryam Nawaz, vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), to a public gathering in Lahore sprayed a party worker with slaps when he touched the former prime minister's daughter on her arrival at the venue.
Maryam was visiting a public gathering in Lahore’s Daroghawala neighbourhood when the incident took place. However, it was not clear immediately if any further action was taken against the desperate PML-N worker or he was let go after the public meeting.

A video grab shows two people touching Maryam, one on the right shoulder and the other on the left. Maryam can be seen turning back and looking angrily at the person who touched her back near the right shoulder.
Maryam is currently mobilising party workers against the government of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Prime Minister Imran Khan. She is leading the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of 11 opposition political parties trying to topple the incumbent federal government, from the front, in the absence of her father, three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, uncle Shehbaz Sharif and cousin Hamza Shehbaz.
Nawaz Sharif is currently in London for his medical treatment, while Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz are in jail in corruption cases.
