In an effort to curb the diesel smuggling, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency apprehended AL ASIF & AL SHAMS boats carrying 64000 litres Iranian diesel along with 11 crew members in an anti-smuggling operation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The smugglers attempted to bring diesel into the country without payment of duty and taxes but their attempt was foiled by the Maritime Security Agency.

The goods were taken into custody after fulfilling requirements of the law as required under Customs Act 1969 and FIR has been lodged under the Customs Act.

The apprehended diesel boat along with smugglers have been handed over to Pakistan Customs Preventive for further legal proceedings.

In a statement, PMSA said, “…despite its limited resources and has always been fulfilling its anti-smuggling obligations.”
