Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated the wheat harvest campaign-2020 at Rajanpur on Thursday.

This year the minimum support price (MSP) was approved at Rs 1,400 per 40 kg. The chief minister will launch the campaign by cutting wheat plants with a traditional sickle.

The procurement for Punjab has been fixed at 4.5 million tons. Standard Operating Procedures have been issued for buying of the wheat from farmers.

Punjab government had protected the rights of farmers in the past and would also protect in future, adding that, he would himself monitor the wheat procurement drive.  

The CM has assigned ministers duties to supervise the wheat procurement campaign in the province for daily or weekly monitoring procedure to evaluate procurement targets.
