A special branch of the Punjab Livestock department foiled on Thursday a bid to supply dead chicken to various eateries in Lahore, seizing a vehicle loaded with the unwholesome meat in Renala Khurd near National Highway Shakargarh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The team intercepted the vehicle and seized 116 maunds of the dead chicken.

The livestock authorities also arrested two accused. It was learnt that the dead chicken was planned to be supplied to the shawarma points and hotels in metropolis Lahore.

The team reached the spot and stopped a vehicle carrying dead chicken weighing 4,640kg.

The livestock department team handed over the seized vehicle carrying dead chicken meat to the City Police Station.

The officials lodged an FIR against two persons involved in smuggling of dead chicken to Lahore and both are habitual in supplying such unwholesome meat to Lahore.
