Met Office forecasts heatwave across Pakistan in April

The meteorological department has said there is a possibility of a heatwave in the country in the next month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
In an exclusive interview with 24News TV channel, Director Weather Department Zaheer Ahmad Babar said that temperatures would rise further in the coming days. “There is a possibility of a sharp increase in temperatures towards the end of April and in May,” he said, adding, “The possibility of a heatwave, especially in Sindh, can’t be ruled out.”
Babar elaborated that rise in temperatures was a global phenomenon.
He further said that although the weather would remain dry this week; but rains were expected in different parts of the country in the next week.
On the other hand, heat persists in Karachi.
It was 19 degrees Celsius in the port city early in the morning today.
The temperature shot up to 35 degrees Celsius later in the afternoon, and was expected to go further up to reach 36-37 degrees Celsius.
Humidity in the air was recorded at 13 per cent, while breeze was blowing from north-easterly direction at the speed of 17 kilometers per hour.
To make matters worse, the Met Office has forecast no rain for the city.
Air Quality Index of the city was also poor as it was ranked as ninth most polluted city of Pakistan today.
