Pakistan's Noor Zaman wins 1st World U-23 Squash Championship

Pakistan's second-seeded Noor Zaman beat Egypt's Kareem El Torkey 3-2 in the final of the inaugural WSF World U-23 Squash Championship on Thursday.
Zaman had stormed into the final with a fabulous 11-6, 11-2, 11-4 victory against Malaysia's Ameeshenraj Chandaran at Karachi's DHA Creek Club on Wednesday.
Torkey stunned top-seeded compatriot Ibrahim Elkabbani 7-11, 11-2, 11-8, 11-5 in the other semi-final to face Zaman in the final.
Following his triumph in the final, Noor Zaman reflected on his mindset and planning to prepare for the game.
“The strategy was to play without thinking about losing or winning. The game plan was to play with patience and keep the pressure under control,” he said after defeating Torkey in the final of the U23 World Squash Championship.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have congratulated Zaman on winning the World U-23 Squash Championship.
Zardari said he was hopeful that Zaman would bring home more laurels. He said he would pray for a brighter future for Zaman.
Sharif said that Zaman made the entire nation proud, adding that Pakistan would regain the lost glory in the field of squash.
Naqvi said that youth like Zaman are the asset of Pakistan.
