Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was seemingly not inclined to leave the field open for its rivals as far as the coming by-polls and the Senate elections are concerned, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the TV channel, the party has started deliberations upon the names of the potential candidates for the Senate elections.
Though the anti-government alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), had collected resignations from the legislators of the component parties in a swift campaign, now the opposition alliance is going to decide that those PDM parties which have a presence in the assemblies will fully participate in the by-polls as wells as elections for the Upper House of the Parliament.
It is being told that the PML-N had also started its preparations for the Senate elections with Pervaiz Rashid, Raja Zafarullah Haq, Mushahidullah and others’ names have been shortlisted.
The PML-N is poised to win four Senate seats from Punjab. The party in the first phase has decided to get Pervaiz Rashid re-elected as a senator from Punjab.
However, the final list of candidates will be announced after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will release the schedule of the elections for the Upper House of Parliament.
Still, the party list of candidates will be forwarded to PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif for his consent.
