Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said that a report on the PIA plane crash in Karachi would be presented to the National Assembly (NA) on June 22.
Addressing a session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, the minister said that damage caused by crash of the PIA flight PK-8303 was being assessed.
Ghulam Sarwar added that identifying victims was a difficult process but 95 out of 97 bodies have been identified so far. The minister said that families of the victims were given Rs1 million each however some families refused to accept the aid.
The aviation minister said that 546 people holding fake degrees were give jobs in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on political basis and even pilots were involved in issuance of fake licences.
The minister said the incumbent government brought the PIA deficit down from Rs422 billion to Rs1 billion. The current deficit of Rs6 billion is due to coronavirus pandemic, he clarified.
