Sixth international conference on patient safety held at FJMU

The Sixth International Conference on Patient Safety to create Awareness, Planning and Implementation of Digital Health, Patient Health and Safety Research and Healthcare Leadership was organized at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore in collaboration with Riphah International University.

The International Conference was held in collaboration with the Host Prof. Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Medical University and Chairman Prof. Dr Zakiuddin Ahmed, Project Director, Riphah Institute of Healthcare Improvement and Safety.

The Theme of the Conference was "Engaging Patients and Families on Co-design Safety ".

Five Parallel sessions were held in which “free paper and poster competition, Role of Nursing in Patient Safety by Ms Sultana Afdhal, Medication Safety by Prof. Dr Abdul Rasheed, Need for National Standards and Accreditations by Dr Salma Jaoni & Ms Afifa Munawwa and Undergraduate & Postgraduate Curriculum of Patient Safety by Prof. Dr Paul Barach.

Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal thanked all the International Speakers from abroad, Distinguished Guests and Participants. He said that patient health safety is a very important subject. He announced that the subject of Patient Safety will be the part of Curriculum of Undergraduate and Postgraduate, Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore. He further said that patient care is our Top Most Priority and Insha’Allah we will continue to provide the best health facilities to the patients.

In the Plenary Session, a briefing was given on the Global Perspective of Patient Safety and a panel discussion was also held.

In the Thematic Plenary Session, various International Speakers such as Prof. Dr. Paul Barch, Prof. Dr. Aziz Sheikh, Prof. Tin Kok Hian and Dr. Mike Durkin gave briefings on “Engaging Patients and Families on to Co-design safety”.

In the concluding session, a panel discussion was held on "Patient Health Care Journey to Hospital - Why, When, How".
