Ministry of Religious Affairs Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani has expressed the hope that this time there will be no controversy over Ramazan and Eidul Fitr moons sighting in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

He has said that Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee always takes all four provinces along. “The committee does not believe in demeaning anybody,” he has said, adding, “In this connection, there are standard operating procedures.” 

On the other hand, sources told 24News that Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would meet on March 22, 2023 (Wednesday) for the Ramazan moon sighting.  

Besides that, there will also be meetings of Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees across the country.  

The main committee will decide on sighting of the moon in the light of eyewitness accounts from across the country.  

The weather department, on the other hand, has said there are strong chances of Ramadan moon sighting on March 22, (29 Shaban 1444). 

The department has predicted that the moon’s birth will take place on March 21 at 10:23 PM. 

It has further said that in the event of the holy month of Ramadan of complete 30 days, then it will conclude on April 21 (Friday). 

Sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs disclosed that there were chances that Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s meeting would be held in Islamabad. 

The ministry would soon issue the notification for the meeting, they revealed.
