Yet another petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday against advertisements in the media, publicizing the ‘achievements’ of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Making the federal government, the Punjab government and others respondents in her plea, PTI Chief Organizer Aliya Hamza said that both the prime minister and the chief minister were spending public funds on these advertisements.
She further said that there existed no policy on advertisements listing the projects initiated by a government. “The utilization of money from the national exchequer on the publicity of personal achievements is illegal and unconstitutional. It also amounts to the violation of the Supreme Court (SC) verdict,” read the petition.
The PTI chief organizer prayed to the court that in light of these facts, the government should be ordered to comply with the SC’s judgment.
A week ago, a petition had been filed in the LHC, seeking action against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz over the use of public funds for personal and political promotion.
Ashba Kamran, the petitioner, stated that Nawaz Sharif, despite being a member of the National Assembly (MNA) after the 2024 general elections, had been utilizing Punjab government resources for political activities.
