The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi district with effect from October 10 to October 17, 2024 due to Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.


The main purpose of imposition of Section 144 in Rawalpindi is to beef-up security for Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit members.


According to the details, Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi on the request of district administration. Section 144 enforced to maintain law and order situation and security and safety of general public and official, sensitive, private buildings in Rawalpindi.


No one will be allowed to hold political gathering, sit-ins, demonstration, agitation and all other such kind of activities.


After imposition of Section 144 pillion riding, flying drone, open firing, and display of laser lights completely banned in the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi district.


It is necessary to mention here that personnel of law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) will be exempted from these restrictions.
