Sikh Yatrees enjoy Baisakhi Mela celebrations at Gurdwara Panja Sahib

Three days long Baisakhi Mela celebrations continued at Gurdwara Panja Sahib Hassan Abdal on the second day, the 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The participants of the Mela expressed their desire to establish a peaceful and friendly relations between both neighbouring countries, Pakistan and India.

This event holds great significance for the Sikh community such that more than 10,000 Sikh pilgrims from all over the world, including India, are participating in the three-day Baisakhi Mela.  As many as 2466 Sikh pilgrims from India also have reached Gurdwara Panja Sahib by special buses. In this regard, the Punjab government has formulated fool-proof security arrangements to ensure compliance with law and order.

 The Sikh pilgrims coming from India were brought to the Gurdwara under tight security. Special trains have been arranged for their arrival and safe return. The other Sikh pilgrims are attending the Mela from European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Far East Asia, and America. 

Baisakhi Mela which marks the harvest season and the birth of the Khalsa. Sikh Yatrees including kids also enjoyed bath in the pond at Panja Sahib.

According to the Sikh religion, the festival of Baisakhi marks the beginning of the New Year. In this context, Sikhs living all over the world participate in the celebrations held on Baba Guru Nanak.

In the sitting room, they read and listen to Granth Sahib with great devotion, and various religious rituals are performed.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Adnan Anjum, DPO Sardar Ghiyas Gul, and other officers welcomed the pilgrims and presented them with flower bouquets. 

The main event of the Baisakhi Mela will be held on April 14 at the Gurdwara in which Bhog, Matha, Tikka, and other rituals will be performed.

On April 15, the Sikh pilgrims will return to Lahore and Nankana Sahib.
