Two excise police officials were martyred in a brazen gun attack near Pabbi on GT Road in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Sunday.
According to details, unidentified assailants opened straight fire on the excise police team, resulting in the on-the-spot martyrdom of two constables.
A sub-inspector was also seriously injured in the incident and was immediately shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.
Rescue teams moved swiftly to transport the bodies of the martyred officials to the hospital after police completed evidence collection and initial investigations at the crime scene.
The injured sub-inspector said the excise squad had blockaded the area on a tip-off about drug smuggling.
During the blockade, an unknown assailant signalled to stop the vehicle, but the assailant opened indiscriminate fire as soon as he approached.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the attackers, while the area remains tense in the aftermath of the deadly assault.
The funeral prayers of the martyred personnel will be offered at the police line today.
