Imad Wasim retires from international cricket once again

All-rounder Imad Wasim Friday announced his retirement from international cricket once again though he vowed to continue his domestic and franchise cricket.

In a message to his fans and supporters, Wasim said wearing the green jersey had been unforgettable for him but after much deliberation, he had decided to call it a day.

“After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from international cricket. Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable," he said in a post on X.

“Your unwavering support, love, and passion have always been my biggest strength. From the highs to the lows, your encouragement has pushed me to give my best for our beloved country.

“While this chapter comes to an end, I look forward to continuing my journey in cricket through domestic and franchise cricket, and I hope to keep entertaining you all in new ways,” he said thanking the nation "for everything".

"Thank you for everything. Pakistan."

Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket in November 2023 but has made a U-turn after a brilliant Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.

Imad was part of the victorious Islamabad United team, led by Shadab Khan, and was the Player of the Match in the Final against Multan Sultans for his all-round performance where he picked up 5/23 and remained unbeaten on 19 in a tense chase.

Throughout the PSL season, Imad demonstrated consistency with both bat and ball. He accumulated 126 runs at an average of 21 and an impressive strike rate of 128.57, in addition to scalping 12 wickets across 12 matches.

But his outing in the Cricket World Cup proved to be a disaster and he was criticized for his slow batting in the match against India.

After the World Cup, he was out of favour from the selectors and was not picked again for the national side.
