As more and more people are falling prey to coronavirus in Pakistan, pilots of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) are no exception.
A PIA pilot who was flying a commercial flight from Islamabad to Kuala Lumpur a week ago has tested positive for coronavirus. Initially, the airline had informed the pilot that his tests came negative. However, the health authorities informed him later that he was coronavirus positive.
According to the sources, Captain Arbab flew a plane from Islamabad to Malaysia on June 7 and then from Malaysia to Islamabad on June 8. He gave his samples for coronavirus tests at the Islamabad airport and then quarantined himself at home.
The PIA management informed him that his virus test has come out negative and he came out of the quarantine mode. However, the health department informed the pilot later that he was coronavirus positive. Now there are reports that Captain Arbab’s wife and daughter too have tested positive for coronavirus.
Two Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel who were on-board the same Malaysia-to-Islamabad flight have also tested positive for coronavirus.
