Defence spending expected to jump by 7.49 percent in next budget

Compared with the ongoing financial year (FY), the defence budget during the next FY 2025-26 was expected to increase by Rs159 billion or 7.49 per cent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Sources told 24News TV channel that defence expenditures during the next FY were expected to remain Rs2,281 billion.
They disclosed that compared with the last FY, the defence budget this FY went up by 14.16 per cent and stood at Rs2,122 billion.
Last year, over Rs1,858 billion had been earmarked for the purpose.
