The Pakistani government on Sunday issued an advisory, expressing concern at the use of social media forums by officials of key government institutions and telling them to stop the practice immediately.
The advisory has been sent to all ministries, secretaries of divisions and chief secretaries of all the provinces. The advisory has urged officials of key government institutions to stop the use of social media forums, saying that some officials of important national institutions were sharing vital official information on the social media.
The advisory says that sharing such information on the social media could affect government’s ongoing operations. The government has advised the officials through the advisory to quit all social media groups where critical information is shared. The advisory says no employee should share any classified information on the social media.
The advisory has also asked the government employees to point out the social media groups where vital information is shared so that these groups could be blocked. The advisory says that government employees should use the dual verification system for the safety of their information.
