The Sindh government has announced a major change in vehicle registration, with the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department deciding to phase out old license plates for private and commercial vehicles starting next year.
According to the department’s notification, all vehicle owners are required to switch to newly designed license plates featuring the cultural Ajrak pattern.
For private vehicles, white plates will replace the traditional yellow ones, while commercial vehicles will adopt yellow plates with an Ajrak design, replacing the older black plates.
The new license plates will be mandatory starting April 3, 2025. The Excise Department has made it clear that old plates will no longer be acceptable after this date.
Vehicle owners are urged to acquire the updated plates immediately to avoid any inconvenience.
