The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a directive to the Caretaker Government emphasizing the importance of avoiding political affiliations while appointing cabinet members, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources, this move came in the form of a letter addressed to the secretary of the caretaker prime minister, Mr. Tauqeer Shah.
In a bid to ensure a transparent and impartial transition of power, the ECP Special Secretary Zafar Iqbal, penned the letter, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining impartiality when selecting senior civil servants for crucial positions.
The ECP’s action follows a recent press conference where a prominent political party raised concerns about the perceived continuity between the caretaker government and its predecessor.
The party accused the caretaker administration of perpetuating the legacy of the previous government, prompting the Election Commission to intervene.
The letter serves as a reminder of the caretaker government's responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all political parties as the nation approaches a critical phase of the electoral process.
