Raging wildfire engulfs Khanpur Hills in Haripur

A massive wildfire has erupted in the forested mountain ranges of Tehsil Khanpur, Haripur, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Tuesday.
The channel reported that the forests in Upper Khanpur, particularly in Hilli and Nala, have been ablaze for the past four hours.
Residents of the area are making desperate efforts to extinguish the fire on a self-help basis, but the blaze continues to spread rapidly to nearby regions. Despite their best attempts, the fire remains out of control.
The local community has appealed to the Forest Department and district administration for immediate assistance to combat the fire.
According to local sources, hundreds of acres of forest land have already been reduced to ashes in Upper Khanpur.
The destruction poses a serious threat to the area’s ecology and ongoing afforestation initiatives, including the Billion Tree Tsunami project, which now lies vulnerable due to the Forest Department’s reported negligence.
