Twenty-one percent of station house officers posted to Faisalabad has a criminal record, 24NewsHD tv channel reported on Monday.
Earlier in the ongoing month, a report said Punjab Police Inspector-General (IG) Sardar Ali Khan issued a new order for field posting of all personnel including officers.
The order underlines honesty, good reputation, untainted track record, and professionalism as the main criteria for a field posting.
Police officials with tainted and blight records and facing departmental inquiries or convictions will not be given field posting. The order demanded that all police officers from district chiefs to head constables at police stations must meet the new criteria.
The police officers who have been convicted in departmental inquiries will not get field postings, while all officials who have received major punishments in the last two years will also stand ineligible for field posting.
However, the SHOs of Milat Town, Sarghoda Road, Batala Colony, Saddar, Jaranwala, Tandianwala City, Madina Town, and Satyana have a history of being involved in crimes.
