CEC writes letter to PM asking for building to launch EVM setup

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja on Saturday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan on the matter of Electronic Voting Machine and i-voting requesting him to provide some place and a building to the Election Commission of Pakistan for establishing a project management unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In his letter, CEC Sikandar Raja requested the premier to provide the commission some kind of building in which the ECP could set up its project management unit.
It is stated that the commission is taking steps for the use of technology during election process.
The CEC also presented his recommendations in this regard. He suggested that the guest room of Pakistan Academy of Sciences could be used for this purpose. He also proposed that the guest house of PCSI; empty floor of Science & Technology Ministry and some building in the Sir Syed Memorial Society could be given to the election commission for establishing its project management unit over there.
According to the contents of letter, the recruitment process of the unit’s IT professionals is in the final stages. The IT teams will work to introduce EVMs and i-voting during elections, the letter added.
