Punjab CM awards Rs30m to national hockey team

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Tuesday announced to increase in the prize money from Rs0.2 million to Rs30 million for the national heroes.

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif handed over the prize money check of Rs30 million to the national hockey team. The national hockey team met with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Maryam said she was glad national hockey has made new records after 13 years.

“Hockey team restored national pride,” Punjab CM said.

National hockey was a source of pride for Pakistan in the past and national hockey will regain its position. “I promise, National Hockey will get full support from the Prime Minister and myself,” Maryam Nawaz said.

Punjab CM instructed provincial sports authorities to take measures related to sports.

Maryam Nawaz has been given the responsibility of sports promotion in Punjab. She said in the past, academies were built during the sportsmen's era.

Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government will provide the necessary support from the Punjab government for the development of hockey.
