Ordering an inquiry into delay in the construction of Rawal Chowk flyover in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed that the project be completed by September 1, 2022, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PM Shehbaz, who reached site of the project early in the morning, was given a detailed briefing on the progress made on the project so far which had been launched in October 2020.
He also ordered getting the project’s audit done by a third party.
He directed the concerned departments to complete projects of public interest on time.
The prime minister was of the view that the project could not be completed on time due to the ‘incapability’ of the construction firm. “Such projects were completed in the past within six months,” he said, and added, “There are instances in which flyovers were built within 72 hours whenever I was the Punjab chief minister.”
He also expressed the surprise as to why the firm was not ‘blacklisted’.
Expressing his anguish that the common man’s money was being wasted by delaying construction of the flyover, Shehbaz termed it a height of ‘irresponsibility’.
