In a bid to promote winter tourism and develop skiing as a premier sport in Pakistan, Malam Jabba Ski Resort arranged a ceremony here in honour of the members of the International Advisory Board (IAB) at a local hotel.
The high-profile event brought together dignitaries, tourism stakeholders, and international advisors committed to shaping the future of winter sports in the country. The IAB plays a strategic role in guiding efforts to enhance tourist experiences, attract global investment, and develop world-class ski infrastructure in Pakistan.
The dinner was graced by Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, PPP central Secretary Information Nadeem Afzal Chan and attended by prominent IAB members including Lord Sarfraz of Kensington, Chair of the IAB; Lord Lancaster of Kimbolton TD PC, former UK National Security Advisor; Waqar Malik, Ambassador at Large; Ahmer Bilal Soofi, former Federal Minister; and Yousaf Jamal Shah, senior lawyer and Secretary to the Board.
Speaking to media, Lord Sarfraz highlighted the importance of international collaboration in positioning Pakistan as a top skiing destination. “Pakistan’s stunning mountain ranges, especially in the northern areas and Malam Jabba, hold immense potential for winter sports. Engaging local communities is also key to achieving success,” he emphasized.
Former Federal Minister Ahmer Bilal Soofi expressed optimism about the country’s future in winter sports. “Pakistan is naturally blessed with ideal conditions for skiing. With proper infrastructure already in place, it is only a matter of time before it becomes a hub for international skiing events,” he said.
The gathering also included discussions on sustainable tourism practices, global partnerships, and strategies to boost Pakistan’s visibility in the international winter sports arena.
The evening concluded with a sense of optimism and a shared commitment to transforming Pakistan into a global hotspot for skiing and eco-tourism.
