Islamabad Police, after three days of hard work, succeeded in arresting suspect in the case of rape of a woman on trail-III of the federal capital’s Margalla Hills on Sunday on technical grounds, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The affected woman, on the other hand, did not cooperate with the police.
Case of the incident had been registered at Kohsar police station.
However, initial medical report did not confirm rape with the woman. Nor were there any injury marks on her body that might have resulted from offering resistance to the suspect.
A day before yesterday (Friday, July 14, 2023), news of a rape of a woman on a hiking trail in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills sent shockwaves throughout the country, with people calling — once again — for safety for women.
According to an FIR of the case registered, the victim, a resident of Muridke, was lured to the city with the promise of a job.
She told police that the suspect had asked her to come to Rawalpindi and she reached there on July 12. “The man picked me up from a bus stop in Rawalpindi, took me to the trail-III of Margalla Hills in the afternoon where he raped me in a jungle at gunpoint,” she elaborated.
Just a few months ago, Islamabad was shaken by reports of a woman being raped at gunpoint in the F-9 park. Before that there was another case and before that another.
