2,158 tons of watermark papers used in general elections 2024: ECP

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that 2,158 tons of watermark papers were used in the general elections 2024 while 17,816 candidates participated in the elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) while issuing a detailed report on the general elections 2024, said that 859 constituencies were created for the national and four provincial assemblies while the ballot papers were printed from three printing press centres.
The electoral watchdog said 7 lakh ballot boxes were used for the elections while 1.5 lakh ballot boxes were kept in reserve during the entire process. Overall 103883 polling staff were trained for the electoral process.
While 90675 polling stations were established across the country. 25211 polling stations were set up for men and 23844 polling stations for women while 41058 were joint polling stations. 276398 polling booths were set up for polling in the general elections.
The report said that four laptops were provided to each returning officer of the National Assembly constituencies while three laptops were given to each returning officer of the provincial assembly constituencies.
ECP said notices were issued to 1899 political parties as well as independent candidates for violating the code of conduct during general elections.
The report said two transgender contested the elections of the National Assembly while the two other transgender also ran for the Provincial Assemblies.
