A two-judge bench of the Lahore High Court has referred Imran Khan’s plea against cases to the larger bench and sent the file to the Supreme Court.
The bench comprising Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition of Imran Khan who appeared in the court along with his counsel.
Imran Khan's lawyer told the court that ‘141 cases have been registered against the PTI chief and in all the cases, the plaintiffs are the police and mentioned cases of the Wazirabad shooting and Zele Shah death.
He added police should not be allowed to register a new case during these days while Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh questioned if there is any such tradition.
Imran Khan told the court that he came to know reliably the government planned to launch an operation at Zaman Park during the Eid holidays.
The court should restrain the government from doing so, he stressed, recalling the court’s directives to bar the government from such action.
He said he feared a ‘bloodbath due to the operation and he stands against such incident’.
The lawyer of the Punjab government opposed the request of Imran Khan and question how such a petition can be filed.
The court listened to both sides and referred the matter to the SC's larger bench.
