FJMU hosts international seminar on AI in medicine

Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) Wednesday hosted an international seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medicine, organized in collaboration with the Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of the UK, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, the event underscored the university’s commitment to advancing medical knowledge and fostering international collaboration.
The seminar brought together distinguished guests, including former Punjab Health Minister Prof. Javed Akram and Federal Tax Ombudsman and Head of Customs Healthcare Society Dr Asif Mahmood Jah. Notable international medical experts, including representatives from the UK Alumni Association, participated in the event, sharing insights on AI applications in medicine and other critical health topics.
VC Prof Khalid Masood Gondal extended heartfelt gratitude to the attendees, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in tackling global health challenges.
He praised Dr Asif Mahmood Jah and Prof. Javed Akram as role models for their outstanding contributions to public health and humanitarian efforts.
Dr Asif Mahmood Jah encouraged students to adopt a positive mindset and engage in humanitarian work, highlighting the significance of sincerity and goodwill.
Prof. Javed Akram emphasized the value of good character in the medical profession and lauded the university in elevating key medical institutions in Pakistan.
Dr Daniyal Saeed delivered an insightful lecture on "Career Counseling in the UK as an International Medical Graduate," offering valuable guidance to aspiring doctors.
Other sessions covered topics such as AI in medicine, maternal mortality prevention, gender equality, and quality medical education, led by esteemed speakers from Pakistan and abroad.
The seminar featured a vibrant poster competition, where students showcased their creativity and expertise in community medicine.
The faculty members reviewed the displays and commended the students for their innovative work.
Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to winners, encouraging continued excellence.
The event’s success was attributed to the collective efforts of FJMU faculty, led by Chairperson Prof. Ayesha Malik and Principal Prof. Abdul Hameed.
The event concluded on a high note with a closing ceremony, where shields were presented to the esteemed guest speakers in appreciation of their valuable contributions.
