The government has sought opposition parties’ cooperation in the presentation of the federal budget for the fiscal year 2021/22, reported 24 News HD TV Channel on Tuesday.
According to sources, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar has contacted the leaders of opposition parties in view to seek consensus on the date of budget presentation.
Sources revealed that the government wanted to present the federal budget in mid-June but the opposition parties have advised the government to present the annual economic plan in the first week of June.
But the opposition parties were of the view if the government presented the budget in the first week of June, then three weeks were required for the budget session. And if the government brings the budget in the middle of June, then they will not find three weeks for the budget session, the opposition asserted.
The business advisory committee will decide about the budget session date later today.
NA Speaker has invited the opposition parties to participate in the business advisory committee’s meeting.
