Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Sirajul Haq has said he condemns the postponement of local body elections in Karachi, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Tuesday.
“I object to the decision of the Election Commission. The Sindh government believes that it can avoid defeat by postponing the local body elections,” he said while speaking to the media in Sukkur.
He said: “The election commission came under the pressure of the provincial government and gave the decision. The by-elections were actually a contest between the federal and provincial governments. Government resources and influence were used in the by-elections.”
The JI chief added: “The results of the by-elections will not affect the general elections.0 People should trust Jamaat-e-Islami in the upcoming elections. Jamaat-e-Islami is the only party free from corruption.”
