Five terrorists were slain when they were locked in a gunfight with the personnel of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Balochistan city of Duki on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to security sources, the dead bodies of the terrorists, involved in attacks on labourers and security forces, have been sent to Quetta.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was conducted on an intelligence tip-off regarding the presence of militants linked to a banned outfit. The suspects opened fire upon seeing the law enforcement personnel, leading to a fierce gunbattle in which all five militants were killed.

“The slain terrorists were involved in a series of targeted attacks on workers, civilians, and law enforcement agencies, particularly in the Quetta mining region,” CTD officials stated, adding they also had a history of kidnappings.

The identities of the terrorists have not been disclosed yet, but officials confirmed their affiliation with a proscribed organization operating in the province.

CTD officials said weapons and explosives were also recovered from the site of the operation. A further investigation is underway to trace the group's remaining network and collaborators.
